Nicole Webber is a multimedia feminist artist studying her MFA at Massey University. Nicole’s themes of abjection, the body, and the gaze reflect her emotions and encounters as a fat woman navigating the art world. Informed by her experiences of fatness, anxiety, and injury; Nicole harnesses the interaction between her body and technology through video and internet performance to transgress notions of empowerment and autonomy. By addressing the cultural implications of performing the fat body, she aims to confront standards and constructions that produce harmful stereotypes and alienate fat women.
What does body mean to you?
Fuck shit up.
Who do you want to become?
Ask yourself a question.
Has your injury changed they way you address beauty?
What makes you feel good?
Tell us a story.
When do you feel lonely?
Please create a portrait of me.
When will it all end?
